Discovering The Spirit of a Place: A Sacred Garden Walk in Maymont. May 25th
Burdock and his life-partner, another "Dirt WItch" who practices sacred gardening, will lead a small group to explore the gardens of Maymont.
Burdock's earlier gardening classes have focused on mindfulness and good ecological practice. This class will enable participants to study the concepts further, or experience them for the first time, in an actual garden, Maymont's gardens are outstanding examples of landscaping that respects "Genius Loci," the spirit of a natural place. Meditation, Writing, and Drawing in such a landscape yeilds results!
The class includes working with a garden journal/sketchbook, study of good ecological practices at Maymont (And a spiritual consequences of this,) and a discussion of how to shape a garden to the natural forces that are in the land. Participants will enjoy a garden meditation and will conclude class with a picnic lunch discussion of what everyone has seen/found/written. |

Pre-reistration fee of class is limited to 20 participants.
Please bring walking shoes, your garden journal or diary for writing/drawing, your favorite writing/drawing tools, a "sit upon" for meditation, and a picnic lunch.
All participants are expected to observe and obey all park regulations concerning animals, beverages, and litter.
